Maidstone 0 - 4 Gore Court
Gore Court fought keenly in a tight first half against local rivals Maidstone, creating the better number of chances to score from open and set plays. But as opportunities kept being spurned by the Gore Court forwards they were glad to go into the break at 0-0.
Having regrouped, the team started the second half positively, immediately pinning Maidstone deep into their own half and winning a succession of penalty corners. Matthew Jonas capitalized by pouncing on a loose ball to open the scoring and followed it shortly after with his second goal,a good strike from the top of the D.
Jonas completed his hatrick scrambling home another loose ball when the keeper failed to clear with a kick. Debutant Patrick Brookson had a goal disallowed when adjudged not to have touched the ball in the D but this he put right with a neat finish at the far post. Other good performances came from Ben Acott, Ben Sergant and Joseph Eves who made his debut.
HOLCOMBE 1 - 8 GORE COURT
A friendly fixture against Holcombe was the perfect opportunity to give match experience to Gore Court's younger players. Gore Court started brightly, penetrating the Holcombe D frequently yet failing to create any real clear cut chances as Holcombe defended resolutely. The deadlock was finally broken on 15 minutes when Patrick Brookson finished with a smart shot into the left corner. Ben Sergeant extended the lead with a burst down the left before scoring with a spectacular effort.
The second half was one way traffic as the Gore Court fitness levels and superior short passing game created chance after chance. Brookson & Sergeant both went on to score four goals each in a fine win. Holcombe scored a consolation goal from a penalty corner strike which was deflected in.
ASFORD 2 - 2 GORE COURT
Gore Court displayed a spirited and battling team performance on Sunday morning to earn themselves a point in their match against Ashford. Ashford won the early exchanges and set the pace of the game which was a quick tempo. As Ashford dominated possession they came up against some solid defending in Dominic Annand in goal, Conrad Chamberlain and Gemma Brown. As the half went on Ashford carved out a few clear chances and midway through the half the defence could do nothing when a clearance ricocheted off a forwards stick to give Ashford the lead as the ball looped in. Ashford scored a second just before half time with a neat move which was tapped in at the back post.
In the second half, Gore Court played with more determination and self belief and pressed the Ashford players into mistakes. In an evenly matched and competitive half it looked like the game was going to end 2-0. But with ten minutes left Gore Court broke into the D with a surging run from Nick Orr. His hit pass towards Patrick Brookson made the Ashford keeper make a save at his feet and the ball fell to Brookson with the keeper stranded. Brookson coolly scored to reduce the deficit. With two minutes remaining Gore Court were awarded a penalty corner. The keeper made a save which fell again to Brookson who equalised with his second of the game.
