Gore Court 3 - 0 Wellcome
Gore Court fielded a very young side against a much older and more experienced opposition but the youngsters were not daunted and soon took control of the midfield. After 15 minutes, their good team work and passing was rewarded with a goal from Jessica Buck. A second goal by Leah Miller, with the help of a defender's foot, gave Gore Court a 2:0 lead at half time.
Gore Court started the second half in the same manner, with sisters Eloise and Gaby Garton and Jessica Buck combining well on the right to produce several attacking opportunities. Wellcome did mount a comeback in the last 15 minutes winning several penalty corners but the defence, ably led by Sam Simmonds, kept them at bay. Indeed a fine counter-attack and superb pass form Briony Grover, led to Buck scoring her second goal of the game with a fine strike and Gore Court securing a well deserved 3 points.
BLACKHEATH 3 - 0 GORE COURT
Gore Court's youngsters were unable to repeat their winning ways of the week before when they came up against a much older and experienced Blackheath side. Gore Court started brightly with plenty of energetic running from Klaire Lander and Jessica Buck but were unable to convert any chances into goals. Half way through the first half, Gore Court's defence failed to pick up a player running through from midfield who was then able to make a simple pass for the first goal. A similar scenario took the home side into a 2:0 lead at half time. Gore Court continued to battle and played some very constructive attacking hockey gaining several penalty corners but were unable to convert these into goals. Blackheath sealed the victory with a 3rd goal shortly before the final whistle.
